I have been painting in oils on and off since I was 13 and still have the first brush I ever bought – from a market stall in 1964.  I still use it occasionally, too. I am largely self-taught except for my Art GCE ‘O’ Level. After a short career in the civil service, I went back into education as a mature student. I spent four years learning how to be an Art teacher then the next twenty-odd teaching Drama. It could only happen in the UK!
